Clue

When we want to share our thoughts with someone we sit down together over a drink. But in individualistic societies these collective moments are threatened. Seeking a break from individualism, Imme Huetink tracked how we converse over drinks, where the exchange also occurs in the gestures we unknowingly use to handle our glass or cup. To support our drinking vessels in their facilitator role, ‘Clue’ offers a series of ceramic cups with irregular forms that invite hands and fingers to touch. Informed by common and repeated gestures, they are tactile and amorphous, asking to be turned, swirled and tipped. By encouraging contemplation, ‘Clue’ is a subtle intervention that enriches the communal moment and coaxes deeper meaning from conversation.
